Basic Sustainability Policy

Our Vision

"Another Step Toward a Better Tomorrow"

EM Systems is aiming to develop a sustainable society through its businesses, based on its management philosophy of "contributing to the health of people and the Earth." One significant effort toward achieving sustainability was establishing the SDGs Promotion Committee within the company organization in 2021. This committee has been responsible for identifying the SDGs to work toward as well as internal and external issues, and focuses on activities that incorporate SDGs as part of management under the motto, "Another Step Toward a Better Tomorrow." Four core challenges (materiality) were also created from 2021 as key indices to adopt while promoting sustainability management.
As a company focused on providing a safe and secure lifestyle and "contributing to the health of people and the Earth" for all, EM Systems is increasing its dialogue with all stakeholders as it seeks to achieve a carbon-free society and create an even better organization and company workplace. Through its business activities, EM Systems together with society as a whole, is committed to finding solutions to issues that affect our society.

Commitment to Achieving SDGs

Contributing to and achieving these SDGs have much in common with our management philosophy. The very first principle of EM Systems' management philosophy is that we are committed to continue contributing to the health of people and the Earth. Ensuring the sustainability of the planet and contributing to the health of the people will be of the utmost importance so that EM Systems remains an essential company for the world into the future.
And beyond making further contributions to the medical and welfare industries through our various system businesses, EM Systems will also be taking on new challenges as a company capable of tackling various social issues and helping to find viable solutions. These SDGs will be incorporated into our management in a strategic manner as a way of developing our future objectives and moving forward with business.
In addition to pledging our commitment to achieving these SDGs, we have also developed a new brand logo "#TX (#Thanks Transformation)" in response to demand from our own staff. "#TX" is our new catchphrase that signals our approach of "transforming "medical and welfare" to "#Thanks"" as we aim to create an organization where we can all say to each other "That's #TX!"
And we want everyone in society to say of our approach, "That's what you call '#TX'!"
Everyone throughout the EM Systems Group will be working as one in our ongoing efforts to develop a sustainable society by focusing on these SDGs with the aim of finding solutions to tackle social issues.

Internal structure for promoting sustainability

EM Systems has established a Sustainability Committee.
The Sustainability Committee, which is chaired by the president, is composed of executives and mainly discusses the promotion of sustainability management and how to promote and realize sustainability.

The ESG Promotion Group is responsible for planning and disclosing appropriate information to stakeholders for the achievement of the SDGs and the realization of ESG measures.

Assessing Materiality (key issues)

We identified key issues in strategy meetings using international standards like GRI Standards and Sustainable Development Goals as a guide, and also called upon experts for further discussion before assessing Materiality for the EM Systems Group in fiscal 2021.

Relation between Materiality and SDGs Targets

Relation between Materiality and SDGs Targets

Materiality (key issues) assessment process

Step1 Create a list of management issues or social issues that need to be addressed over the medium to long term, identify key issues from stakeholders' perspective, and select items with the greatest severity
Step2 Use GRI and other international standards as a guide to carefully examine details of the management issues or social issues requiring addressing over the medium to long term as identified in Step 1
Step3 Coordinate details of identified key issues based on feedback from external experts, hold several Board of Directors meetings and management meetings before identifying Materiality (key issues) in the sustainability context
GRI
* Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a framework of standards that helps companies report their economic, environmental and social impacts (including positive and negative impacts, impacts on external stakeholders, and impacts received from external stakeholders), and communicate ways they are contributing to sustainable development.
